Written Answers. - Defence Forces Personnel.

Derek McDowell

Question:

64 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Defence the number of personnel in each rank above the level of colonel in the Defence Forces; the number at each rank who retired in each of the years from 1997 to 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4528/00]

The number of personnel in each rank above that of colonel is one lieutenant-general, three major-generals and seven brigadier generals.

The number of personnel who retired in each of the years 1997 to 1999 is as shown in the tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.
