Vol. 514 No. 5

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Equipment.

Paul Bradford

Question:

67 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Defence the number of replacement aircraft which have been purchased for the Air Corps since he took office. [4624/00]

The most recent purchase of aircraft for the Air Corps was the two CASA CN 235 maritime patrol aircraft which were delivered in 1994 and cost more than £40 million. The Air Corps also operates and maintains on behalf of the Garda Síochána a fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter which were purchased in 1997.

The future equipment requirements of the Air Corps will be dealt with in the context of the forthcoming White Paper on Defence.
