293 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the number of civil servants appointed by him and his Ministers of State to look after constituency matters; the costs involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5111/00]

Two clerical officers have been assigned to my office to look after constituency matters. Their salaries are £216.85 per week and £194.19 per week, respectively.

There are two clerical officer posts in the office of the Minister of State at my Department, one of which is held in a job-sharing capacity. The salaries are £216.85 per week, £164.36 per week, job-sharing, and £141.47 per week, job-sharing, respectively.

This number of appointments conforms to the Guidelines On Staffing Of Ministerial Offices issued by the Department of Finance in July 1997.
