Vol. 515 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Austin Currie

Question:

229 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science the provision, if any, which will be made for the secondary education of a person (details supplied) currently attending a primary school in Lucan, County Dublin and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5661/00]

My Department was not aware of this case.

The selection and enrolment of pupils in second level schools is, in the first instance, the responsibility of individual schools. In exceptional circumstances, my Department provides assistance to parents who encounter difficulty in securing a school placement.

Inquiries are currently being made to ascertain the circumstances of this case and every effort will be made to find a suitable placement for the child as soon as possible.
