Vol. 515 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

207 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children when a shunt operation needed by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will be scheduled; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6152/00]

The course of treatment and the scheduling of patient appointments is a matter for the hospital authorities in the first instance, based on a clinical assessment of need. I have asked the chief executive officer of Beaumont Hospital to investigate the position regarding this patient. Given the particular circumstances of this case, I have requested that he reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.

Question:

208 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will be admitted to hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6153/00]

The scheduling of patient admissions in this case is the responsibility, in the first instance, of the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, incorporating the National Children's Hospital. I have asked the chief executive officer of the hospital to investigate this matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
