Vol. 515 No. 3

Written Answers. - First Time Homeseekers.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

246 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the action, if any, his Department takes on a monthly basis to update the number of people who are first time homeseekers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6216/00]

Persons seek their first home in a wide variety of ways, for example, through local authority housing, renting in the private rented sector, renting in voluntary housing accommodation or by seeking to arrange house purchase finance from commercial or other lending agencies.

Accordingly, it would not be possible to establish with any degree of accuracy the numbers of first time home seekers, and this information is not available to my Department.
