Vol. 515 No. 4

Written Answers. - Arts Council.

Enda Kenny

Question:

150 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if an officer of her Department attends each meeting of the Arts Council; if the minutes of these meetings are provided to her Department; if she will provide a copy of these for the past 12 months in the Oireachtas Library; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6377/00]

An officer of my Department attends meetings of the Arts Council in the role of observer and receive s minutes of meetings in this capacity. Existing standing orders of the Arts Council made under the legislation establishing the council which is an autonomous body under that legislation, provide that such minutes relating to council business shall be confidential. Accordingly, it is not open to me to comply with the Deputy's request.
