Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deenihan – the urgent need for immediate resources to reduce the waiting list of 4,500 patients at Tralee General Hospital; (2) Deputy Marian McGennis – the need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to initiate an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of a person (details supplied) in London; (3) Deputy Ó Caoláin – the need for testing of all schools for radon gas in light of the discovery that 13 schools have high radon levels; (4) Deputy Shatter – the arctic conditions in the Dublin Family Circuit Court and the regular occupation of part of the building by drug abusers; (5) Deputy Upton – the need to devise a programme of food safety training for all prospective workers in the food industry in light of the salmonella outbreak in Louth, Meath and Cavan; (6) Deputy Flanagan – the future of the peat burning power stations in County Offaly; (7) Deputy Howlin – the concern at the hardship being caused by the policy of dispersing asylum seekers throughout the country; (8) Deputy O'Shea – the need for the Minister for the Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands to exercise her powers of dismissal of members of the Arts Council under section 13(7) of the Arts Act, 1973; (9) Deputy Stanton – the need for funding to extend school transport for students attending Coláiste Eoin and CBS secondary school in Youghal, County Cork.

The matters raised by Deputies Marian McGennis, Flanagan, O'Shea and Shatter have been selected for discussion.
