Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Michael Ring

Question:

82 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the funding, if any, allocated for development works at Roigh pier, Newport, County Mayo. [6899/00]

Roigh pier is owned by Mayo County Council and maintenance and development of the facility is the responsibility of the local authority.

Mayo County Council completed the redecking of the pier in 1999 at a total cost of £100,000, towards which my Department contributed £75,000. I am advised that the council has drawn up costed proposals for further development works at Roigh pier. The related funding requirements of such proposals would fall to be considered in the context of overall priorities for fishery harbour development and all other relevant considerations.
