Question:

53 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the issues and areas of concern, if any, regarding marine and related issues in Dublin Bay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8394/00]

My Department's responsibilities are many and varied. They cover such marine related areas as navigation, fishing,fisheries, erosion and accretion, maritime safety, removal of material from, and dumping of material on, the foreshore, maritime transport, licensing of various works or activities on the foreshore, etc., marine tourism and leisure, marine environment, and marine research.

If there is any particular area on which the Deputy would wish to seek further information, I will be happy to provide it.

54 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his attention has been drawn to the concerns regarding the increase in sea bed levels in Dublin Bay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8395/00]

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to Question No. 40 on Wednesday, 20 October 1999 and to the reply to the oral question put down by the Deputy for answer today in relation to the causeway at Bull Island.
