66 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Defence if he will give details of the early retirement scheme being offered to civilian workers in Clancy Barracks; if the necessary applications have come forward; if the scheme will be extended to similar grade workers in other Dublin based barracks; if so, the date in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A range of possible options, including an early retirement scheme for personnel who do not wish to transfer to the Curragh, are the subject of discussions currently taking place between officials of my Department and unions representing workers in Clancy Barracks. I have no plans to introduce an early retirement scheme for civilian employees in other Dublin barracks.
