84 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will sanction the plans by the Incorporated Orthopaedic Hospital of Ireland, Clontarf, Dublin 3, for its phase 2 development; the role of the Eastern Regional Health Authority in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8339/00]

As the Deputy will be are aware, the Eastern Regional Health Authority assumed responsibility for all health service issues in the eastern region from 1 March 2000. Decisions on the funding within the national development plan of capital projects in the region are a matter for the authority in the first instance. The authority will give the provision of capital funding for the proposed development at the Incorporated Orthopaedic Hospital, Clontarf early consideration.
