91 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will re-introduce the procedure whereby vouchers were made available to those suffering from deafness to enable them to buy batteries for hearing aids; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8451/00]

Local clinics providing audiology services also provide a drop in service for minor repairs of hearing aids, including replacement of batteries as necessary. There are no proposals to introduce a voucher system at this time for replacement of batteries as suggested by the Deputy.
