Written Answers. - Salmon Management.
Salmon conservation and management measures which were in force last year will remain in place given the continued vulnerability of salmon stocks. It remains the case that where commercial netsmen and anglers working with the regional fisheries boards can agree a management plan for specific areas, the possibility of extending the season in those areas will be examined. The salmon commission which I have now established on a statutory basis, will advise on future conservation and management strategies for the salmon resource.
