181 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will examine the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 with a view to having an independent assessment of his situation as his parents want him to remain at school until the summer when he will be going to a further education course. My Department was not previously aware of this case.
In exceptional circumstances, my Department provides assistance to parents who encounter difficulty in securing suitable educational provision for their children.
Inquiries are currently being made directly with this young person's parents to ascertain the circumstances of this case and every effort will be made to ensure that suitable educational provision is made available.
