56 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the plans or discussions, if any, her Department has regarding the privatisation of the electricity services at Poulaphuca reservoir, County Wicklow; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9056/00]

My Department has no plans nor have there been any discussions regarding the privatisation of electricity services at Poulaphuca reservoir, County Wicklow.

71 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the discussions, if any, she has had with the ESB with a view to the construction of a gas powered electricity station at Bellacorick, Ballina, County Mayo; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7660/00]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 57 and 71 together.

In accordance with sections 14 and 16 of the Electricity Regulation Act, 1999, responsibility for the licensing of generating stations and the granting of authorisations to construct generating stations rests with the Commission for Electricity Regulation.
