Vol. 517 No. 2

Written Answers. - Employee Share Options.

Jack Wall

Question:

46 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Finance when the promised consultative committee will be established to consider the role that can be played by employee share-option trusts, gain-sharing, profit sharing and other financial employee incentives in developing and deepening partnership arising from the commitment given in the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. [9366/00]

The Programme for Prosperity and Fairness states that the Government and the social partners acknowledge the role of ESOTs gain sharing, profit sharing and other financial employee incentives in developing and deepening partnership and in increasing performance and competitiveness. A consultative committee, involving ICTU, IBEC and appropriate Government Departments and agencies, has been established to prepare proposals for consideration in the context of budget 2001.

The committee held its first meeting on 16 February 2000.
