Vol. 517 No. 2

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Nora Owen

Question:

70 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the plans, if any, she has to implement the EU Directive on part-time workers; if the legislation will be introduced by June 2000 as indicated by her; if not, if she will outline the special difficulties which have occurred which allows her to seek a derogation from the January 2000 implementation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9487/00]

In the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, section 1.3(b)(6) the Government gave an undertaking that the Bill to implement the EU Directive on part-time work will be introduced by June 2000. It is my intention that this deadline will be met.
