Vol. 517 No. 2

Written Answers. - Occupational Therapy.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

109 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Laois who suffers from autism has not been offered an appropriate intensive speech and language therapy course; if he has satisfied himself that appropriate occupational therapy is required together with psychological assessment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9408/00]

The provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in County Laois is the responsibility of the Midland Health Board.

As it would not be appropriate to provide the information sought by the Deputy in relation to the individual concerned by way of reply to a parliamentary question, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Midland Health Board to exam ine the matter and respond directly to the Deputy.
