Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.

Seán Ryan

Question:

199 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will respond to the need for an additional ambulance substation in north Fingal, possibly Balbriggan, County Dublin, in order to improve response times for the growing population of the area. [9706/00]

The provision of ambulance services in Fingal is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have, therefore, asked the chief executive at the authority to look into the issues raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him in this regard.

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that this year £1.666 million has been provided to the authority for the development of the ambulance service in the region. I will continue to provide additional resources for the development of the ambulance service in line with national policy in this regard.
