Vol. 517 No. 3

Written Answers. - Passport Applications.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

257 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive a decision on her application for a passport in view of the fact she made her application in December 1999. [9629/00]

The application referred to by the Deputy is an application for Irish citizenship by way of post-nuptial declaration. This was received in my Department on 2 December 1999 and is under consideration. Due to the high numbers of applications being received, the average processing time is in excess of six months. It is likely that this application will be completed in the second half of this year. As soon as the processing of the case has been completed, I will inform the applicant and the Deputy of the outcome.
