Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

163 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will authorise payment of fees for the test carried out on the herd of a person (details supplied) in view of the fact the herd owner had planned on purchasing animals to increase his herd. [10411/00]

The position is that a contiguous herd test was scheduled for the herd of the person named in the question for 5 February 2000.

Both the herdowner and his veterinary practitioner were advised in writing that this test would be paid for by my Department provided it was carried out within the 14 day time limit that applies to all contiguous herd tests, that is, it would have to be completed by 19 February 2000. As this test was not completed until 21 February 2000, the herdowner became liable for the testing fee.
