Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospitals Building Programme.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

269 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals, if any, he has in relation to phases two and three of the development at St Joseph's and the District Hospital in Dungarvan, County Waterford; if he will allow both phases to proceed simultaneously in view of the need for the new buildings; the cost effectiveness of taking both phases together; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10665/00]

The development of facilities for older people in Waterford is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board. The question of proceeding with the developments at St. Joseph's and the District Hospital in Dungarvan will depend on the priority attached to the schemes by the South Eastern Health Board vis-à-vis its other capital proposals in the context of funding available under the national development plan.
