78 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Finance if he will report on the progress made in relation to employment conditions for foreign language teachers working at the language training unit in Lansdowne House, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4; the remuneration of these teachers; and the impediments, if any, standing in the way of a resolution of this dispute. Discussions about the employment conditions for hourly paid language teachers in the Civil Service language training unit are ongoing between officials of my Department and the appropriate staff representatives. A meeting was held last week and a further meeting is scheduled for next month. The rate of pay for hourly paid language teachers in the Civil Service language training unit is currently £27.99 per hour, rate effective 1 April 2000.
