311 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if a qualified person is employed in the Department to develop information communication technology systems for use in the Department, on an inter-Department basis and outwards to conduct business with the general public and public representatives. The IT unit of my Department has 18 staff involved both in developing new computer systems and in maintaining, supporting, upgrading and enhancing the Department's existing computer systems. All of these staff either have received, or are receiving, the training necessary to enable them to develop ICT systems which support the efficient conduct of business both with the Department's clients and with other Departments.
