Vol. 518 No. 4

Written Answers. - Respite Care.

Michael Ring

Question:

183 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the funding made available to a respite care home in Ballina, County Mayo; if the home is open on a full-time basis with staff working on a 24 hour, seven day week basis; and the number of people the home accommodates at any one time. [12048/00]

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to the provision of a hospice suite in the District Hospital, Ballina. Capital funding of £75,000 has been provided for the Western Health Board for this project and construction work will commence shortly. It is too early at this stage to indicate the precise nature of the operational arrangements for this service. However I have asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to forward this information to the Deputy when it is available.
