Vol. 518 No. 4

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

204 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position with regard to a sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Mayo; the funding provided for the scheme; and when the work will commence. [12068/00]

A brief for a proposed sewerage scheme at Belcarra, County Mayo, was submitted to my Department in 1992 and a preliminary report was submitted last January but neither has been approved. The scheme is seventeenth on the list of sewerage schemes submitted by Mayo County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment programmes for this and future years under the National Development Plan 2000-2006.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

205 Dr O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position of the water augmentation scheme at Carrickmacross; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12069/00]

I understand that Carrickmacross UDC has appointed consultants to prepare a preliminary report for this scheme which has been approved for funding under the rural towns and villages initiative.
