Vol. 518 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Seán Ryan

Question:

271 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will respond favourably to the application from St. Helen's junior national school, Portmarnock, County Dublin, for the sanction of additional teachers and classroom assistants to enable two outreach units to be established in the school for September 2000, particularly in view of the demand for these facilities and the fact that the required accommodation is available within the school. [12019/00]

My Department's inspectorate has been asked to investigate and report on the establishment of a special class for children with autism at the school referred to by the Deputy.

As soon as this report is received and considered, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities.
