49 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science the way in which she will guarantee the independence of the Academy for the Performing Arts sited on the DCU campus; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10982/00]
A planning and steering group has been established to develop, advise on, facilitate and monitor the process of establishing the proposed academy for the performing arts. The group's terms of reference include making proposals regarding the legal base for the establishment of Irish academy for the performing arts and the appointment of a governing authority and the nature of the relationship between the governing body of the IAPA and the institutions within each node and their respective validating universities. Accordingly, the group will be addressing the independence of the IAPA and will report to me in due course.
