58 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science the additional resources he will make available to ensure that the institutes of technology can cater for the additional 1,300 apprentice places from September 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11818/00]

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods):

Proposals have been received by my Department to cater for the additional 1,300 apprentices from September 2000. These proposals are currently being processed.

Appropriate resources will be made available to cater for the increased provision.
