Question:72 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science the efforts he has made to resolve the long standing dispute in his Department which is disrupting service to the public. [11852/00]

Members of the Public Service Executive Union in my Department are currently engaged in industrial action in pursuit of a staffing claim. Strenuous efforts have been made to date to reach agreement with the union and a revised offer from the Department is being considered by the union with a view to balloting members on the proposals.
As negotiations are at an extremely crucial stage, it would not be helpful for me to comment further on the matter at this particular time.
