152 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called to University College Hospital for a prostate operation in view of the fact that he has been waiting two years; the number of appointment dates he has been given for his treatment; the number of times his appointments have been cancelled; the reason for each cancellation; if a full investigation will be carried out in this regard as the frequent cancellations are causing the person unnecessary stress; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of services in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

154 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of people on the waiting list for physiotherapy at the out-patients clinic at Mayo General Hospital; the number of people who have received treatment since 1 January 2000; the number of physiotherapists employed in operating this clinic; and the plans, if any, to recruit additional staff to shorten the waiting list for this service.
