Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Land Registry.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

192 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will take the appropriate action to ensure that the number of Waterford based members of the Partnership 2000 committee of the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds is increased to a fair and equitable level; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12272/00]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): I refer the Deputy to my previous answer to Parliamentary Question No. 141 of 13 April 2000.
The Land Registry and the Registry of Deeds Partnership Committee comprised 21 members – six union representatives, six management representatives and nine staff representatives. At present, two members of the committee, both of whom are staff representatives, are based in the Waterford office.
I am informed that a new post of office manager will be established in Waterford later this year. This officer will serve on the partnership committee of the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds and will represent management input from the Waterford office.
In the context of this representation, consideration will also be given to the establishment of a local partnership working group in Waterford whose views will be communicated by the Waterford office manager to the overall partnership committee. This working group will include staff representatives.
