Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

16 Mr. Broughan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the promised working group on the community employment scheme has been established in view of the ratification of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness; the composition of the group; when it is expected to report and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11935/00]

A plenary meeting of the social partners is scheduled for 26 April 2000 to consider monitoring and other issues arising under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. I anticipate that these discussions will lead to the early establishment of the special working group, provided for under paragraph 4.2(4) of the agreement, to deal with issues relating to community employment. I expect that the group will comprise representatives of the social partners, Departments and FÁS who are concerned with CE. I look forward to early receipt of the group's report.
