Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Construction Safety Partnership.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

41 Mr. Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will make a statement on the progress made in regard to implementation of the report of the construction safety partnership. [11960/00]

The report of the construction safety partnership, CSP, which was launched earlier this year sets out the conclusions and recommendations of the partnership which I brought together in October 1999. The partnership plan is a three year plan to improve occupational safety, health and welfare standards in the construction industry, and all parties to the plan have made a number of wide-ranging commitments which will be implemented over that period. The partnership has also committed itself to meeting quarterly throughout this year to oversee the implementation of the recommendations and the first review will take place in May, after which I look forward to receiving a report on progress so far.
