Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Waterford Services.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

71 Mr. O'Shea asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the new services or extension to existing services which have commenced or will commence in the Waterford constituency during 2000; the amount involved in each case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12149/00]

Services and programmes relating to enterprise, trade and employment are implemented primarily through agencies under the aegis of my Department, operating a wide range of policy instruments to be used as appropriate in any given instance. The continued relevance and effectiveness of these instruments is kept under constant review and changes or extensions are made as required. That will continue to be the case in 2000.

The policy instruments now being deployed are effectively promoting employment, enterprise, economic growth, employee welfare and the rights of consumers throughout the State, including Waterford.
