Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pension Schemes.

Liam Aylward

Question:

188 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Defence the progress, if any, made in correcting the anomaly in gratuity payment on retirement to members of the Defence Forces with the rank of company sergeant with regard to the 78 weeks gratuity currently paid to commissioned officers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12738/00]

The level of retirement gratuity payable to non-commissioned personnel will be considered in the context of a general review of military superannuation arrangements to be undertaken in the light of the final report of the Commission on Public Service Pensions and of any relevant Government decisions thereon. The commission is expected to make its final report to Government in the near future. I should say that it was open to individuals and groups to make submissions to the commission and I understand that PDFORRA was among the groups to do so.
