365 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the documentation required for a refugee to enable him or her to obtain a provisional driving licence; and the arrangements made to facilitate someone who, because of the circumstances in which he left his native country, has no documentation. My Department issued administrative instructions to motor taxation offices in January 1999 designed to assist the processing of provisional driving licence applications from asylum seekers whose documentation may not be complete.

I have arranged for a copy of the relevant circular DC 2/99, to be sent to the Deputy and to be placed in the Oireachtas Library.
