Question:

430 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number of appeals received in health board regions (details supplied) in the past 12 months, on a monthly basis; the number of appeals dealt with; the number of appeals allowed; and the number disallowed under the category of appeal of supplementary welfare allowance. The supplementary welfare allowance scheme is administered on my behalf by the health boards. Appeals in supplementary welfare allowance cases are dealt with in the first instance by the health board appeals officers. Details of appeals for each health board for 1999 and the first two months of the year 2000 are set out in the following tabular statement.
