Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Development Funding.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

460 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council have accepted the conditions attached to the grant of development funding for Lucan Demesne; if so, the works agreed for funding in 2000; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13108/00]

I can confirm that both Kildare County Council and South Dublin County Council have formally accepted the conditions attached to the grant of development funding for the Lucan Demesne. However, Fingal County Council has not formally responded as yet. A reminder was issued to that council on 14 April.

A programme of works for 2000 is, therefore, not available at present but the Deputy will be pleased to learn that Kildare County Council has initiated some preliminary works to prepare the way to open the demesne to the public.

In addition to Fingal County Council formally accepting the conditions attached to the grant, it is essential, as indicated in replies to previous questions on the issue, that the legal formalities transferring ownership of the relevant portions of the demesne to Kildare County Council and Fingal County Council, be completed without delay in order to progress the matter.
