Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Art Teachers.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

523 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to parliamentary Question No. 139 of 8 March 2000, he will have investigations made into the reason a file relating to a finishing course in 1979 for unqualified art teachers who had attempted to qualify through the Department's technical schools system, cannot be traced in his Department in view of the fact that this finishing course was not run by his Department even though a variable number of applicants meeting the Department's requirements had been received in 1979; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12374/00]

The Deputy will appreciate that these papers relate to matters which arose some 20 years ago and pre-date the transfer of the relevant sections of my Department to Athlone. That said, I assure the Deputy that every effort is being made to trace the papers in question.
