Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Coastal Erosion.

David Stanton

Question:

88 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 91 of 15 December 1999, the study on coastal protection requirements at Youghal, County Cork, has been completed; if so the action he will take as a result of the study; the cost in this regard; when the works will commence to protect the beach at Youghal from further erosion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12955/00]

I am advised by Cork County Council that the study on coastal protection at Youghal, undertaken for the local authority by consulting engineers, is completed and that it expects to receive the report from the consultants shortly.

The options and funding needs for coastal protection works at Youghal will be assessed further when the results of the consultants' study are forwarded to my Department by the county council.
