Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Aquaculture Exports.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

104 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the total value of aquaculture and other marine products exported to China in 1999. [12683/00]

Irish Seafood Exports to China were valued at just over £142,000 in 1999 with pelagic exports accounting for 67% of this total, £96,210, and the remainder attributed to shellfish at £46,315. Sustained initiatives are continuing, led by BIM, working with the seafood sector, to expand this small foothold in the Chinese market which is the largest market for seafood in the world.
