Vol. 519 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

159 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason he has not agreed a least with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for a site for a school car park at St. Anne's national school, Shankill, County Dublin, for which the county council has agreed to provide the land and for which the council has granted planning permission. [13199/00]

My Department does not own the site of St. Anne's national school or the proposed site for the car park. Accordingly, the lease in question is a matter for agreement between Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the authorities of the school.

My Department may only provide grant aid towards work in areas of ground upon which a school has a lien. When the lease has been finalised, the question of grant aid for the work in question will be further considered.
