Vol. 519 No. 1

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Sargent. I call on Deputy Sargent to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I wish to raise under Standing Order 31 the following urgent matter of public importance, namely, the need to restore some level of public confidence in the political process through the introduction of appropriate legislation, including the defamation Bill, and the need for all the Members of the Oireachtas to declare whether they have ever received donations from Mr. Frank Dunlop.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
