Vol. 519 No. 1

Written Answers. - Diplomatic Representation.

Nora Owen

Question:

63 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of recent and pending changes in Ireland's diplomatic representation abroad. [12827/00]

In the last year, Ireland has established new embassies in Mexico and Singapore, new consulates general in Shanghai and Sydney and a representative office to the Palestinian Authority. The Department is at present in the process of establishing a mission in Brussels arising out our participation in Partnership for Peace. As for the period ahead, I am keeping under close review the adequacy of our network of resident diplomatic missions abroad in terms of Ireland's political and economic interests.
