Vol. 519 No. 2

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

336 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will authorise pre-school treatment to enable a person (details supplied) in County Cork to participate in mainstream education in view of this person's needs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13534/00]

I have asked my Department's inspectorate to investigate the needs of the child referred to by the Deputy. My Department is currently supporting pilot pre-school provision for children with autism and it is my intention to extend this provision as soon as possible.
