Vol. 519 No. 3

Written Answers - Institutes of Technology.

John Perry

Question:

228 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will intervene on a person's behalf (details supplied) in County Sligo and grant him a college placement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13786/00]

The Dublin Institute of Technology is a statutory body established under the Dublin Institute of Technology Act, 1992. Under that Act, the governance and day to day activities of the institute are matters for which the governing body and the management staff of the Institute are responsible.

However, I have had inquiries made in this matter with the Dublin Institute of Technology and I understand that an application form has been received in the institute from the individual involved for entry to the construction economics degree course FT 111. I am told that candidates will be written to at end of June 2000 inviting them for formal interviews in September.
