Jack Wall

Question:

125 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the current status of the ongoing internal strategic review of the Irish Red Cross Society; when it will be completed; if he has sought a copy of the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13825/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 49 and 125 together.

Following the appointment of a new secretary general to the Irish Red Cross Society in 1999, one of the first tasks he undertook was a strategic review of the operation of the society. I am informed that the strategic review will encompass the views and opinions of all organs of the society to ensure the strengthening and development of the society. I understand this review will be inclusive, involving volunteers and all staff members. The Irish Red Cross is being assisted by a consultant in these matters. It is intended that the review will be completed by mid-2000.
