Vol. 519 No. 3

Written Answers - Enterprise Ireland.

Liz McManus

Question:

116 Ms McManus asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will make increased funds available in view of the high level of submissions for funding from the Enterprise Ireland fund; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13914/00]

A total of £13.5 million has been allocated to Enterprise Ireland for the new community enterprise centre programme, £8 million in respect of 1999 and a further of £5.5 million for 2000. The 1999 allocation has been fully committed by Enterprise Ireland which is currently in the process of appraising applications for the 2000 tranche. I have no plans to provide additional resources to this programme.

Enterprise Ireland is keeping the overall situation as regards supports for community enterprise centres under review with a view to ensuring that the supports provided by them are appropriate having regard to the needs and potential for community involvement in enterprise development.
